Guide to Surrender of Units

This guide is for Primary Representatives who wish to surrender from a New Zealand Emission Unit Register (NZEUR) participant holding account to the Crown Surrender Account to meet all or part of their emissions obligations under the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme.
Preconditions
Access to a computer with internet access so as to navigate to www.eur.govt.nz
The approved participant holding account with sufficient units to enable the surrender of units to the Crown Surrender Account.

Key Points
For accounts where primary representatives have been assigned roles as preparers and approvers, surrender transactions must first be prepared by a preparer and then approved by an approver.
When surrendering units coming from numerous unit serial ranges in your account - only 75 different blocks of units may be selected in a single surrender transaction. Multiple surrender transactions can be completed to meet your full obligations.
