Changes to the New Zealand Emission Unit Register (NZEUR)
Overseas Transfers of Emissions Units Leaving the NZEUR
The New Zealand Emission Unit Register (NZEUR) has introduced a new measure to protect the security of your emission unit holdings. An additional step has been introduced for all international transactions leaving the NZEUR. After a transaction has been approved by the account holder, it will need to be verified by the NZEUR Registrar to be completed.
The purpose of this step is to allow the Registrar to verify that the proposed transaction has been approved legitimately, rather than a result of an account holder security breach.
As a result of this new security step:
- transactions leaving the NZEUR will only be able to be verified and completed during the New Zealand business day.
- you should anticipate a delay of up to two business days to ensure the necessary verification can be completed - if your transaction timing is critical you may wish to contact us before hand.
If you have any queries or wish to advise us of a future transaction, please phone 0800 Climate (0800 254 628) or for international callers phone +64 3 962 2708.
Note that over the Christmas/New Year period (24th December to 3rd January), the business days will be 28th to 30th December inclusive. For emergency assistance over the Christmas/New Year period phone 0800 387 4688 or for international callers phone +64 9 909 3476.
Note that this new clearance process does not affect domestic transactions, or units entering the NZEUR from overseas.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We have identified that this is a necessary step to ensure the security of your holdings. This is one of a number of on-going security enhancements being made to the NZEUR.
